I love this, – I was always saying ‘yes’ every time, I was asked to do something. I had to learn you cannot always say ‘yes,’ in order to be ‘kind’ to people. I was being controlled, by the wrong spirit at that. In all things, let every matter be established and keep your ‘yes’ as yes and ‘no’ as no. Saying ‘no’ is not a sin, but WISDOM applied.
Philippians 4:6 Do not worry at all, but in every matter, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to Elohim.
Matthew 5:37 “But let your word ‘Yea’ be ‘Yea,’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No.’ And what goes beyond these is from the wicked one.
Ya’aqob / James 5:12 But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by the heaven or by the earth or with any other oath. But let your Yea be Yea, and your No, No, lest you fall into judgment.
2 Corinthians 1:17 – 20 Since I intended this, did I do it lightly? Or what I plan, do I plan according to the flesh, that with me there should be Yea, Yea, and No, No? 18 But Elohim is trustworthy, that our word to you was not Yea and No. 19 For the Son of Elohim, YaHUShA Messiah, who was proclaimed among you by us – by me, Sila, and Timothy – was not Yea and No, but in Him was Yea. 20 For as many promises as are of Elohim, in Him they are Yea, and in Him Amen, to the esteem of Elohim through us.
We can look at this from two different view points. Obliging to do something that you said you would do, you best do it. As your commitment is then before Abba.
Ecclesiastes 5:4 – 5 When you make a vow to Elohim, do not delay to pay it, for He takes no pleasure in fools. Pay that which you have vowed. 5 It is better not to vow than to vow and not pay.
I have learned my lesson several times, in saying I would do something and then forget, or not do what I said I would do. It is a painful thing, when your children say, or when a person says to you, “you said you would be here.” and you have failed them yourself and most of all Elohim.
I have been a victim in this situation as well, my heart has been sad too. It is hard when the vow is not kept, and you are disappointed. We have to be absolutely sure, that if we cannot commit to something, that we would rather abstain from empty promises. It would be better to surprise someone, in fact, it would be wonderful to surprise someone, than to disappoint! Then, there’s the other aspect of our vows being turned against us, for example, if you say you would help someone and you definitely kept to your word, but you did not want to help that person, because you know you are being abused, then your help is no longer help, you are being used against your will. Has this happened to you? It has surely happened to me often. This is when we need wisdom and are able to judge for ourselves, whether we are being taken for granted in our kindness or not.
I have fallen prey to subtle demands from a controlling person, and I did not know how to work with that kind of scenario. I did not understand what a controlling spirit was and what it was capable of actually doing with my own soul and more importantly my will. As I have grown and given my heart to YaHUShA, the Set-apart Spirit gave me the knowledge, understanding and wisdom, when a person is controlling or truly needing help. I was able to see immediately, what was required of myself. Did you have friends like that at school? They called themselves friend, when they needed you, but when they were well, they never needed you around their company any longer. Unfortunately it is like that still today. You can be thirteen years, thirty-three years or even eighty-three years. Take good account of what the situations are and what they allow for that person, whether they should help themselves, in order to help others. We learn in our trials and grow during our trials. Until we become more and more dependant on El, we will struggle, be obedient to His will. His will is perfect for us.
Take care in your commitments before Abba, always ask His will. We are not always able to keep our intentions, especially if it is weather permitting, financially in keeping, within time limits and constraints or for any other reason you may foresee. God does see your heart and for reasons beyond your control, He does understand when you have not been able to fulfil your deeds. Fulfil them when the next opportunity arises, do not forget.
Allow yourself to be a blessing to others and not a slave. The enemy will have you so busy doing all kinds of tasks, that are not your business at all. YaHUShA is your business, get your instructions from Him!
Ask daily of Elohim, what would YOU want me to do today?
